Eurotheum, Frankfurt am Main

Renovation of a high-rise building in the banking district

Building owner: Commerz Real Investmentgesellschaft mbH

Town/City: Frankfurt am Main

The Eurotheum is a high-rise building right in the heart of Frankfurt's banking district. Its immediate neighbour is the Main Tower, Germany’s fourth tallest building. Only half its size, the Eurotheum comes across like its little brother – although “little” is still an impressive 110 metres. And in reality, the Main Tower and Eurotheum were built at the same time, with both being released for occupation in 2000. Commerz Real relaunched the Eurotheum in 2015 with the slogan “The new size”. The slogan was drawing attention to the fact that the high-rise building was redesigned up to the 21st floor based on the plans of the renowned architect Peter Kulka. The Hotel “Innside” starts from th 22nd floor upwards.

Commenting on the project, Architect Peter Kulka explains: “I am thrilled to have been involved with the redesign of a building like the Eurotheum, which shapes the urban cityscape. We are making architectural statements, implementing today’s functional requirements and creating an outstanding interior quality climate using superlative materials.” Kampmann’s KaDeck fan coils are contributing to this.

113 units have been installed throughout the floors of the Eurotheum, 83 of which were made-to-measure designs with project-specific dimensions and special RAL 9006 paint finish (white aluminium). The fan coils perfectly match the colour of the suspended ceiling. The architect was able to save space when designing the suspended ceiling, thanks to the unit’s extremely shallow depth of only 160 millimetres.

The KaDeck incorporates an EC tangential fan to speed up the air, making it extremely quiet and efficient. The wet cooling version used in the Eurotheum also delivers extra output. Its service and maintenance concept is also impressive: in the event of a service, the entire underside of the unit can be unhinged giving technicians direct access to all components relevant for maintenance. There is thus no need for a service hatch on site.
