        Width, height & length

        Trench convectors can be selected in different lengths (A) depending on the version, so that they can be optimally integrated into common window hinge systems.

        The functional width (B) and height (C) allow individual adaptation to the floor structure and at the same time determine the performance of the trench convectors.

        Continuous hinges can be realized using empty parts, column recesses, angles, etc.

        Grate start / Grate design

        Various grating variants are available for the cover, which ideally meet both functional and design requirements. Different materials can be selected depending on the application area.

        In addition, different surface coatings and colors are possible in order to achieve a visual adaptation to the building architecture and interior design.

        What is technically relevant is that the choice of material and geometry can influence the free air cross-section and thus have an impact on the performance of the unit. These effects are taken into account in the performance calculation.

        Control option

        We offer various solutions for the control and regulation of our units, which can be used depending on the application and requirements:

        Electromechanical control

        This variant is ideal for simple applications. All integrated actuators are factory-wired to terminals and can be connected to our electromechanical accessories such as thermostats or external controllers.

        KaControl MC1

        Our comprehensive comfort control offers extended control options for individual rooms or appliance groups. It can be operated either via a touch display or a web interface. Thanks to on-site 0-10 V control or common communication protocols such as Modbus RTU & TCP, BACnet and KNX, this solution is ideal for all BMS applications.

        heat and cooling outputs

        • The heat and cooling outputs were determined in accordance with DIN EN 16430 (Parts 1-3) under practical conditions based on DIN EN 442.
        • The standard regulates performance measurements in uniform standards, especially for underfloor convectors.
        • Ensuring uniform comparability of different devices
        • Safety in planning and design

        Arrangement of air outlet for cooling / heating

        • directly on the façade, without a large gap (A, B)
        • provide expansion joints (1) on site to prevent compression by, for example, screed
        • Arrangement convector on the window side, tangential fan on the room side
        • effective cooling and heating, especially for large areas of glass
        • Rising air forms an air vortex that flows into the room without creating a draft.
        • optimal shielding and uniform temperature control in the room

        Acoustics

        The units are equipped with quiet, sound-optimized EC fans.

        Sound pressure and sound power levels are tabulated in the technical data.

        The actual sound pressure level depends heavily on:

        • the number of units;
        • the acoustic properties of the room.

        Recommendation: The design should always take into account the permissible sound pressure level in the room.

        supply air trenches

        Additional supply air models (ZL) are available for the Katherm HK E, enabling additional conditioned supply air to be fed into rooms.

        • Low leaving air velocities, hence pleasant level of comfort.

        Hydraulic connection

        For the simplified hydraulic connection of the Katherm HK E, various valve kits can be selected for the 2-wire connection:

        • pre-adjustable 2-way valve kit
        • Differential pressure-independent valve kit

        consisting of thermostatic valve, return shut-off valve and flexible stainless steel corrugated pipes with pressable copper fitting

        • with matching valve actuators for different control variants

        direct electric heating

        Electric heating with a continuously variably controllable electric heating coil is possible in addition to water-based heating and cooling with the 2-pipe (B) Katherm HK E version. This offers the following possibilities:

        • Compared to a pure 2-pipe system, the room user has the option of individually determining their room climate independently of the heating or cooling system setting.
        • Heating can be provided, regardless of the other offices, although the other offices may still be in cooling mode.

        The Katherm HK E has the following benefits over a traditional 2-pipe system (A) at the cost of a 4-pipe version:

        • Flexible room design is possible, as the Katherm HK E takes on a 4-pipe function.
        • The electric heating element can be used to provide full heating, depending on the heat requirement.
        • In the event of a higher heat requirement, for instance with cold outside temperatures in winter, the room heat requirement can be met by the coil in water-based heating mode.

        Hygiene Directive VDI 6022

        • Katherm HK E are compliant with the relevant Hygiene Directive VDI 6022
        • Objective: To ensure a healthy and hygienic supply of fresh air.
        • applies to common rooms such as workplaces, meeting rooms, break rooms, living rooms, sports venues, sales rooms

        The Katherm HK E meets, for example, the following requirements:

        • Air filter above intake area
        • pull-out, easy-to-clean condensate tray
        • Accessibility of all air- and water-carrying components for cleaning

        Life Cycle Assessment Data (LCA)

        • Considers the environmental impact of the product over its entire life cycle.
        • Published as an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in accordance with standard EN 15804.
        • Available for download at International EPD System.
        • Item number-specific life cycle assessment data in the technical data sheets.
        • Product is registered in the DGNB Navigator (building product platform).

        Serves as proof for certification systems, e.g:

        • DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council);
        • BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method);
        • LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
