Energy-efficient comfort air conditioning for office and administrative buildings

Essen/Lingen (Ems), 06.03.2018. As a system provider for highly efficient ventilation and air conditioning technology, Kampmann presented holistic solutions that are tailor-made to modern office and administrative buildings at the SHK Essen 2018. In order to guarantee a demand-oriented and energy-efficient operating method, the centralised ventilation and air conditioning units by the subsidiary Nova are used to secure the high quality of air.

The flow of heat and cooling loads, in contrast, is performed via water-led components. Certain solutions have become particularly established for common room uses. Cosy comfort open-space offices is made possible, for example, by the very flat KaDeck fan coils. For rooms with higher cooling loads and low to medium air exchange rates – such as conference rooms – the Katherm ID induction floor units or Venkon fan convectors are recommended. The compact trench heating system Katherm HK provide a pleasant room climate all year round mainly in one-person office with floor-to-ceiling windows. And when there are particularly high demands on sound and comfort, cooling ceilings by the subsidiary emco Klima are put to use.

Optimal working conditions in open-plan offices

Optimal working conditions in open-plan offices can be ensured with the very flat KaDeck fan coil. The cooled air supply works with the so-called coanda effect which ensures a balanced distribution of temperature and air quality even in larger rooms. Thanks to a construction height of only 160mm, the space-saving assembly of the unit is possible and it is very flexible as an under-ceiling or false ceiling version. Equipped with a low-noise EC cross flow fan, heating capacities of 1.0 to 7.2 kW and cooling capacities of 0.3 to 3.1 kW are achieved. In addition to that, each unit avails of a primary air supply of up to 80 m³/h.

A high degree of climate comfort in one-man and two-man offices

With a low radiation asymmetry and an extremely quiet operating mode, heating and cooling ceilings by the subsidiary emco Klima ensure a particularly high degree of comfort. With the systems, cooling capacities of up to 100 W/m² can be dissipated so that they are preferably used in one- and two-man offices. At a moderate supply temperature of up to 30 °C, a cosy room climate can also be achieved in the winter. The range of products covers plastered, drywall or metal ceilings, which can be unobtrusively integrated in the office architecture thanks to the low construction height. They are also available with a hole design, which additionally caters for a reduction in the reverberation time and thus for pleasant room acoustics.

If the rooms are distinguished by large-surfaced window fronts and transparent room dividers, the company recommends trench heating systems that guarantee pleasant temperatures all year round even with higher cooling loads. The Katherm HK, for example, achieves a cooling capacity of up to 2.7 kW and a heating capacity of up to 143 kW with very small dimensions thanks to the ideal interplay of the high performance heat exchanger and the EC cross flow fan. In addition, the unit can supply up to 60 m³/h primary air.

Pleasant room climate in meeting and conference rooms

Besides cooling ceilings, fan convectors have also become well established for heating/cooling meeting and conference rooms, whereby with window surfaces at the same level as the floor, induction units are recommended. Katherm ID, for example, achieves comparably high cooling loads of u to 1.5 kW with relatively low primary air quantities. Noise-optimised outlets cater for low-noise operating modes. The induction floor device is, in addition, particularly maintenance free as it contains no rotating parts.

Equally suitable for heating/cooling of conference rooms is the extremely quiet Venkon fan convector which can be put into use in the ceiling panelling, in the false ceiling, as a façade version or as a standalone unit. Thanks to the energy-saving EC technology, a sound pressure level of less than 20 dB(A) is reached with low rotational speeds and thus a very pleasant meeting ambience. At the same time, the unit has heating capacities of 1.4 to 22.1 kW and cooling capacities of 0.8 to 9.5 kW.

Demand-oriented air exchange via centralised ventilation and air conditioning units

The freely configurable ventilation and air conditioning units by the subsidiary Nova take over ensuring a high air quality in the entire building complex; they achieve the highest energy efficiency category A+ of the ventilation and air conditioning manufacturer association with the corresponding design. As heating/cooling is taken care of decentralised in the rooms, the volume flow is merely measured on the basis of the primary air quantity. This means that the air ducts can be designed significantly smaller, with the filter lifetimes being increased. At the same time, rotational or plate heat exchangers cater for very high heat recovery degrees of up to 85 %. In addition, the use of energy-saving Ka20 technology is possible for indirect evaporation cooling which reduces the outside air temperature in the summer in a natural way by up to 20 K.
