Million euro contract for the air conditioning technology manufacturer

Kampmann GmbH supplies forced-air cooling systems: Contract signed with MAC Hamburg GmbH

Lingen (Ems), 04.08.2016. Kampmann GmbH, internationally operating manufacturer of air-conditioning technology was awarded a million-euro contract by MAC Hamburg GmbH. Within the Meyer-Werften Group, MAC Hamburg is the system supplier of all dockyard locations for engineering, materials management, assembly and initial operation. The contract signed on 04 August covers the equipment of four cruise ships with the option of more ships – a project from which not only the companies involved will benefit, but also the entire Emsland region.

An intensive project phase in which Kampmann and MAC Hamburg successfully familiarised themselves with each other ends with the signing of the contract in the Lingen headquarters of Kampmann GmbH. And the implementation phase begins. In the course of it, around 14,000 air conditioning units will be supplied for the first four ships of a large international ship-owning company, each of which with about 3,500 crew and passenger cabins.

“The greatest challenge when developing forced-air cooling systems was the observance of the international guidelines for shipping”, Martin Giese (Head of International Hotel Development) and Sascha Klimansky, technical project manager at Kampmann describes the process. “It was our job to translate our expertise in hotel room air conditioning to the cabins with ever fluctuating demands on outdoor conditions, inside loads and temperature. Our own Research and Development Centre (FEC) predominantly helped us with this. “We are pleased”, says Giese, “that the intensive project phase led to success.”

Hendrik Kampmann, managing director of Kampmann GmbH, and Andre Gebken, managing director of MAC Hamburg GmbH, see the collaboration in a very positive light: “Kampmann made an excellent job of it. We are all looking forward to demonstrating the performance and efficiency of the units in operation and in the context of the climate concept on the ships.”

The units for the first ship will be delivered in July 2017. Having deep roots in the region, Kampmann not only secures jobs but also demonstrates once again the technological and economic competence of the Emsland region.
