Heating and cooling with CO₂ refrigerant

Cleverly using waste heat for room air conditioning

The new Kampmann units have been specifically designed for air conditioning in supermarkets and smaller retail stores in which refrigeration systems operating with the natural refrigerant CO₂ (R-744) are used. Especially when used with commercial refrigeration systems, these units are capable of utilising the waste heat, for instance to heat staff rooms or sales floors. This means heating or cooling with low global warming potential (GWP) and reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Applications

  • Supermarkets, retail chains, retail stores
  • As a component of a CO₂ system to use the waste heat

Benefits

  • Efficient heating, cooling, or heating and cooling with the natural refrigerant CO₂
  • Tested operating pressure of max. 120 / 130 bar
  • High output combined with low energy consumption
  • Utilisation of waste heat from commercial refrigeration systems
  • Low GWP
  • Developed, produced and tested to the most stringent standards

Overview

Venkon

Venkon CO₂

Heating or cooling with the natural refrigerant CO₂ (R-744). Suitable for all retail stores to actively use the waste heat from commercial refrigeration systems. Market-leading quiet yet delivers impressive outputs. A maximum operating pressure of 130 bar is permitted for the heat exchanger of the Venkon CO₂.

Ultra

Ultra CO₂

Ceiling-mounted unit for heating or cooling with the natural refrigerant CO₂. Suitable for all retail stores, as the waste heat from commercial cooling systems can actively be used. It achieves very high cooling outputs despite its compact dimensions. Air can be discharged from the Ultra CO₂ on all six sides. A maximum operating pressure of 120 bar is permitted for the heat exchanger.

Tandem

Tandem CO₂

VAmbient and warm air stream for effective cold air screening. Uses the natural refrigerant CO₂ (R-744) for heating. Suitable for all retail stores, as the waste heat from commercial cooling systems can actively be used. The unit can be mounted on the wall, on the ceiling, or freely suspended. A maximum operating pressure of 130 bar is permitted for the heat exchanger.

Waste heat from commercial refrigeration

Waste heat is the heat generated by a technical unit or system that is not used. In a CO₂ cooling system, especially in commercial refrigeration, the waste heat plays an important role in energy efficiency. Commercial refrigeration systems, such as are used in supermarkets, retail chains and retail stores, generate waste heat as a by-product of the cooling process.

By adapting their cooling system, they can store their products at the same time utilising the valuable heat energy from the waste heat instead of releasing it unused to the outside air. This type of heat recovery makes good use of the waste heat to heat staff rooms or sales floors etc. It saves energy and benefits both the environment as well as the bottom line.

Benefits of using waste heat

Businesses and industrial plants that use their waste heat reduce their energy consumption and pollutant emissions. This saves energy costs and reduced carbon dioxide emissions help to protect the climate. There are also special funding programmes.
